ABOUT

US

The Warwick Released Time (WRT) Program administers a standard, non-denominational curriculum that emphasizes the beliefs that Christians commonly share.

Our two year program teaches 3rd graders the faith of the people in the Bible's Old Testament and 4th graders learn about the life and teachings of Jesus from the Bible's New Testament.

A Bible is given to each student to use through 3rd and 4th grade and gifted to the 4th grade students at the end of their 4th grade year at WRT.

Students are released from school for one hour per week, September through May.

The Warwick School District is NOT responsible for Released Time programming.

  • Warwick Released Time (WRT) classes have been in existence since 1965- once a week- "Planting the seed of God's Word in young hearts"
  • Over the years, WRT has been offered to 4th, 5th and 6th graders. As of the 2018-2019 school year, WRT is offered to 3rd and 4th graders.
  • Children bring their home or school-bought bagged lunches to eat during WRT.
  • Local churches are encouraged to send representatives to quarterly board meetings offering support to WRT.
  • Our governing Board of Directors is a group of volunteers from local churches.
  • There are over 200 children attending WRT this year and more than 50 people involved in making WRT happen each week.

The Warwick Released Time (WRT) program is an optional Christian educational program for all third and fourth graders of Warwick School District.

The program is approved by the Warwick School Board through cooperative efforts with the WRT board.

The program is permitted by the School Code of Pennsylvania, "a time period one hour a week not to exceed 36 hours a school year of religious instruction outside of school property".
